In July 2006 we spent a long weekend in Jim Thorpe, PA, about an hour or so northwest of Allentown in the Piconos. It is situated right on the Lehigh river with scenic mountains and river gorges as the primary attractions. Biking and rafting down the gorge are popular things to do, but it rained for two days, so we didn't get to do either. :-(
